BUILDING MANUFACTURING WORKFORCE CAPABILITY

Training builds skills.
Evidence demonstrates them.

LDTI Research Institute is developing practical manufacturing training, measurement-focused learning, and structured competency verification for employers, workers, and workforce partners.

01 — PURPOSE

Strengthen the workforce.
Elevate the standard.

We are building a model of advanced manufacturing education that connects technical instruction, supervised practice, personal accountability, and objective verification of job-relevant capabilities.

Our goal is to help people enter and advance in manufacturing while helping employers develop the skills their operations require.

OUR LONG-TERM VISION Build a nationally recognized model for advanced manufacturing education where apprenticeship training, competency verification, personal accountability, and applied engineering practice work together to prepare individuals, strengthen employers, and elevate the standard of workforce development.

02 — PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

Focused on the
manufacturing floor.

Each pathway is designed to connect learning objectives to observable performance. Current availability and delivery terms are established with each employer or partner.

01 /PATHWAY IN DEVELOPMENT

Manufacturing foundations

Instructional planning aligned with the MSSC Certified Production Technician (CPT) 4.0 framework: Safety; Quality Practices & Measurement; Manufacturing Processes & Production; and Maintenance Awareness.

Formal MSSC coursework and certification assessments are distinct from LDTI's independent employer training pilots.

02 /EMPLOYER PILOT PROPOSED

Measurement & quality practices

Hands-on fundamentals in drawing interpretation, dimensional inspection, measurement instruments, inspection documentation, and work-standard execution.

Pilot design can incorporate baseline checks, coached practice, measurement-system analysis, and documented skill sign-offs.

03 /PROTOTYPE IN DEVELOPMENT

Competency evidence & verification

An assessor-governed workflow intended to connect specific work requirements with observed task performance, evidence records, reviewer decisions, and qualification status.

Designed to supplement—not replace—employer authorization, formal certifications, and independent quality-system obligations.

04 /FUTURE PATHWAY

Apprenticeship development

Exploring employer-linked apprenticeship and career pathways that integrate related technical instruction, work-based learning, and documented progression.

No LDTI registered apprenticeship program is being represented as approved or open for enrollment at this stage.

03 — HOW WE WORK

From a skill requirement
to defensible evidence.

01

Define

Clarify tasks, risks, performance criteria, and workforce needs.

02

Baseline

Identify the starting level with observations and checks.

03

Develop

Deliver focused instruction and supervised practical work.

04

Verify

Record observed performance and assessor decisions.

05

Improve

Review gaps and prioritize follow-up or requalification.

04 — PARTNERSHIPS

Built for cooperation
with industry.

We welcome exploratory conversations with manufacturers, workforce-development organizations, community partners, and training institutions.
